Widespread Panic hasn't played in the Phoenix area in 3 1/2 years. It would be great to get them back here, but they've already announced their Spring tour.

I like Keller Williams, but he didn't even sell out the Marquee when he was here a few months ago. YMSB would be good too, but not enough of a draw to be headliners. Besides, you've already got RR Earth, which is a better bluegrass band imho.
When asked, "Who would your dream Saturday headliner be?", please note that nobody said The Flaming Lips. What a HUGE disappointment! My 15-20 friends and I have been 2 night campers at the festival for the last 4 years. After Franti was announced for Friday, everyone decided to wait to see who the Saturday headliner was before committing to go.Unfortunately, we will not be attending this year. What happened to the usually great line-up? If it was money, we have all agreed that we would pay more on the ticket to see a better show. We also agree that we won't spend a dime, even if it is for charity, to drink COORS (blah) and watch the Flaming Lips play the exact same show they have been playing for 6 years. It's a shame because money to the charities will be way down this year. You at MMMF will try to blame the stagnate economy, but know that it is just the weak line-up that did it. PS. What happened to Sierra Nevada anyway?
Spearhead is good and Railroad Earth always puts on a good show but whats up with the Flaming Lips....probably the worst band of the two days and they are headlining?
Although we all can agree this is not the band we would have loved to see as Saturday headliner, I want to throw something out there: it seems there are a lot of haters against the MMMF crew, as if they were the sole decision-makers as to who will be on the line-up. There is a lot more that goes into creating a music festival, including pressure from sponsors. Has anyone realized that Fender is a major sponsor and there may have been a lot of heat on their end to sign a band like THE FLAMING LIPS?? Also, Coors may have given them the best deal, as so to raise the most money for the charities. After all, that's what this festival is all about, right? To all the haters: please check yourself. This festival has a lot to offer and is an amazing thing to be a part of. Side note to DARBYRAT: not once have they blamed anything on the poor economy.. we will miss you and your friends this year. Peace & Love.
The Festival took off in April of 2004 as an endeavor to bring real music back to Arizona while getting the community together for a great cause:
our children. Each year, the festival brings together 13 bands from a wide variety of genres from all over the world to Scottsdale, Arizona. The Festival takes place on the last weekend of April every spring.
If you have never been to a music festival, come to ours. Experience the spirit that is cultivated when people join together and have a good time. Bring your kids. Make some friends. There is camping, an RV park, silent auction/raffle, VIP area, marketplace, Kid's Zone and more.

ReplyDeleteYeah, Railroad Earth is great, and I may just help support the festival by buying a $40 day pass just to see them, but that's it.
